Chief of Police

 

The Town of Landis, North Carolina seeks to hire a Chief of Police. The Police Chief will be responsible for the protection of lives and property in the town through the supervision of police functions. Work involves the efficient operation of the Police Department through the control of activities, the determination of departmental procedures, the planning of departmental work priorities and goals, the implementation of programs, and the training, assignment, and supervision of all department members.

Fire Engineer / Medical Responder

 

The Town of Landis, Fire Department is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill a full-time position to be classified as a Fire Engineer/Medical Responder. Primary responsibilities of the position include: driving/operating fire apparatus, responding to emergency medical calls, maintaining apparatus, equipment, and facilities. Other duties may include but are not limited to hose testing, apparatus/equipment testing, training activities, and public education.

 

Work schedule will be rotating 24 hour shifts. This position may require rotating shift work at various times throughout the year.


Applicants must be at least eighteen (18) years of age with a valid NC driver’s license. A certified criminal history and driving record will be required with all completed application packets. Qualified applicants must pass a drug screening and physical.

 

Minimum Qualifications: NC Firefighter II; NC Medical Responder certification; Haz-Mat Operations; NC Class B driver’s license (or the ability to obtain all of the above within 12 months of hire date); minimum of two (2) years experience in the fire service. Desirable Qualifications: NC Driver/Operator EVD, Pumps, and Aerials, NC Rescue Technician.

 

Salary: $38,000 +DOE, plus overtime, retirement plan, 5% 401K match, and employer paid health, dental, short-term disability and vision insurance.

Police Patrol Officer

 

This position involves responding to calls for service, patrolling the Town, enforcing criminal and traffic laws, serving warrants, testifying in court, and other general law enforcement duties.

  

Desirable Education and Experience: Graduation from high school or college degree and BLET certification. Prior law enforcement experience preferred.


Salary: $37,475 ($39,970 for lateral transfers), plus overtime, retirement plan, 5% 401K match, and employer paid health, dental, short-term disability and vision insurance.

  

Special Considerations Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license, and BLET certification. Applicants without a current BLET certification WILL NOT be considered for employment. Applicant must pass a background check, polygraph, and drug screen.
