  • Yesterday afternoon Governor Cooper declared a state of emergency for all of North Carolina, ahead of Hurricane Irma. Today, Landis Mayor Mike Mahaley signed an order declaring a state of emergency for the Town of Landis. The most recent forecasts estimate that the hurricane will begin affecting the Landis area Monday evening.

  • Customers who need new garbage or recycling cans should contact City Hall. This applies to damaged cans, as well as residences simply missing one or both cans. Thank you.

  • A notice to our garbage and recycling customers: If your cans are not emptied on the day of collection, please leave them at the curb and they will be picked up the next day. Thank you for your cooperation. We would also like to remind everyone to avoid blocking sidewalks when rolling cans to the curb for collection.

  • Notice to customers: chipping will be done on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday only. Items put out at the beginning of the week will be taken care of on one of those three days. Thank you.
  • ATTENTION ELECTRIC CUSTOMERS: New Meter Installation

  • The Town of Landis is planning to begin installation of new electric meters in May 2017. The project is expected to take 2-3 months to complete. The installation contractor, working on behalf of the Town of Landis, will have vehicles and uniforms clearly indicating Utility Metering Solutions and/or UMS.

  • Some customers may receive letters instructing them that their meter box leading into their homes must be replaced/upgraded before the new auto read meters can be installed. Customers who receive this letter who are uncertain of the property in question or would like further information, please contact City Hall at 704.857.2411.

  • For citizens wishing to contact their state representatives concerning the issues with the Ryder crossing in Landis, or any other issue you would like to see brought to their attention, you will find the names and contact information below.
  • LEAF PICKUP SCHEDULE

  • Leaf pickup for customers will begin November 1st and run through February 1st. During this period, leaves need to be behind the curb and must not cover any storm drains. After February 1st, leaves will be picked up as needed and will not be collected on a regular schedule.
