Lake Corriher Wilderness Area
The Lake Corriher Wildnerness Area is located at 955 Kimball Road, China Grove, NC 28023, across from the South Rowan Library and South Rowan YMCA. Parking is located in the YMCA Soccer Field parking lot at the Lake Corriher Main Entrance.
This area offers many recreation opportunities for the surrounding communities, including: trail hiking, fishing (by permit only), camping (by reservation only) and picnic areas. In the coming months and years, even more activities will be added. The Wilderness Area also hosts the annual Down and Dirty Mud Run.
The Wilderness Area encompasses both Lake Corriher and the old town reservoir.
8:00a-8:00p - April 1st thru September 30th
8:00a-5:00p - October 1st thru March 31st
Current Wilderness Area Fees:
Adults (age 16 years and up): $5.00
Children (ages 4 to 15): $3.00
Children under 4 may fish for free
Adult Annual Pass (age 16 years and up): $100.00
Child Annual Pass (ages 4 to 15): $40.00
At this time, fishing passes may be purchased at the park off at Lake Corriher. A valid North Carolina Fishing license is required to fish.
Campsite Rental: $10* (per tent, per family or per couple)
(*This fee covers one overnight stay and fishing permits for that day.)
For camping, check-in is at 4:00p daily, check-out is at 3:00p the following day. Restroom facilities will be at the YMCA Soccer Field Concession Stand. To make reservations for a campsite, please visit the park office at Lake Corriher.
